A significant cause for miscommunication across different departments within the same organization arises from "code clashes".
This can occur due to each department naturally developing its own internal language and terminology, that when innocently incorporated by members in inter-departmental communication can cause confusion and even disaster.
Two problems can arise. The first is that the exact same terms may have different meanings or associations in each department, and the second is that the terminology may simply be foreign to the other department.
