Leadership is a collection of strategically chosen habits.

At its core, leadership is about identifying habits that help you achieve your goals and then embodying those, while eliminating detrimental habits.

This is the paradox of habits.

The proper habits will compound over time to help produce the results you want, while the wrong habits will cause harm and decay.

So you must choose them wisely.

To do so requires self-reflection, studying the habits of people whose example and outcomes you want to emulate, and seeking feedback from trusted voices close to you on your blind spots.

A way to think about this is that if you were to look at the state of your life today, including your finances, health, body, status, and relationships, much of it is the byproduct of the choices you made and habits you developed, both consciously and unconsciously, over time.

So this does give you some agency. Identify the outcome you want, or the leader you wish to become, then work backward to adopt the habits you need to achieve that.
