The Better you Write, the Better you Lead the Room

ree

Make daily writing a non-negotiable professional habit to improve your facilitation skills, ability to think quickly on your feet, and ability to lead the room.

One of the most professionally impactful daily practices I have embraced over the years is to write daily on my subject of expertise.

I have found that this simple habit does several things:

  1. It helps encode what I learn into my mind

  2. It forces me to think better about the reasoning behind my positions and ideas

  3. It fills in my gaps in knowledge

  4. It helps me to articulate myself better and think faster on my feet when speaking in public

  5. It trains my brain to be more concise in my explanations

If you don't already do so, a good place to start is to set aside 10-15 minutes daily to write your professional thoughts and positions and save them in an online note-taking system like Obsidian or DayOne.
