Public speaking is a skill that’s worth its weight in gold. You never know when life will call on you to use it.
In 2009, I co-founded a fitness product company called Active Ideas. Our product was the worlds first suspended passive exercise device we called the HOVR.
When we launched our crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, we made it our mission to promote the product wherever we could. One of those moments was pitching in front of 250 people at the Technori product showcase in Chicago.
It was nerve racking to be honest - but it was a great opportunity for visibility. So I got on stage and "shot my shot" to tell our story and get others to buy into our idea. (After lots of practice)
Thanks to that event and a myriad of other marketing initiatives, our campaign raised $560,000 in just 40 days - keeping our business afloat and proving the idea had legs. Public speaking, storytelling, and presence played a critical role in that success.
Here’s the thing: you don’t need to be an entrepreneur to need this skill.
Whether you're sharing an idea at work, leading a project, or launching a side hustle... your ability to use words, gestures, and energy to influence others matters.
I specialize in helping informal and emerging leaders build real influence and protect their well-being while they do it. If you want to grow as a leader and communicator, I’d love to help.
