Facts Tell, Stories Sell. Develop Your Storytelling Skills

ree

Humans remember stories, not slides.

This is because storytelling is how humans are hardwired to think and remember.

It is a tool that, when used properly, can be used to infuse our life experiences into our meetings and presentations so we can better connect with others.

That said, it is not a skill that came naturally to me. I had to learn it over time to become comfortable applying it.

What I did was:

1. I enrolled in a 6-week storytelling course at the Second City Training Center

2. I signed up to speak at story jams that were held all over the city(like this photo at a coffee shop)

3. I started to collect stories in a storybank.

These three strategies helped me immensely in becoming a better storyteller, so I can better connect with the people in the room.

All this to say, if you want to lead the room, build your storytelling muscle.

DM for speaking and training inquiries.
